The Big Gear Show, the USA-based trade show for bike, paddle and outdoor Gear, has now confirmed its second annual event, set for Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah. (A previous version of this story had the venue listed as Canyons Village in Park City Mountain Resort.)
The show will be two full days, starting Tuesday morning, August 2nd and ending Wednesday evening, August 3rd, 2022. Set up will begin on Sunday, July 31st and tear down on Thursday, August 4th.
“After reviewing hundreds of post-show survey results, we’ve found that our multi-segment community wanted us to do another show and they want it to be over the course of two complete days, rather than three shorter days,” said bike show director, Lance Camisasca. The post-show survey was conducted shortly after the 2021 show to poll attendees on their preferences for future years. The survey was sent to 421 retailer attendees and 206 exhibiting brands.
“Many retailers, our primary audience, can’t afford to spend an entire week away from their shops. This tighter and more productive schedule allows them to get more done in less time,” said outdoor show director, Kenji Haroutunian.
Of the 421 retailers in attendance, 94% registered as owners, managers or buyers. 98% of retailers said they would likely return to BGS 2022 and 100% of participating brands said the value was better than other national outdoor industry trade shows, largely due to having simpler, more transparent pricing, no drayage or labor fees and exhibit pricing that honors returning exhibitors.
The event hosted a series of retail education seminars that added value for participants.
The Big Gear Show team has seen an “exponential” increase in inbound inquiries and applications compared to this time last year and as a result, anticipates that retailer attendance will double and brand attendance will increase triple.
